Questions

Frequently Asked

What exactly is Haptic Vision?

A wearable navigation aid for blind and low-vision users. A chest-mounted camera reads the space around you and turns it into vibration on a belt and spoken alerts in an earbud.

Does it need internet or a subscription?

No. Everything runs on a small computer you carry. There is no cloud, no account, and no monthly fee, and it keeps working with no signal.

How does it tell me about obstacles?

Three motors on a belt, for left, center, and right, pulse harder and faster as something gets closer. Named hazards like people, stairs, and drop-offs are also spoken aloud, with the most urgent one first.

Is my camera data private?

Yes. Images are processed on the device and never leave it. Session logging is off by default and opt-in, and you can delete it at any time.

Can it recognize people and read signs?

It recognizes faces you have saved and announces them by name and direction. When you ask, it can also read a sign, room number, or label out loud.

Can I get one?

We are students field-testing the system, not selling it yet. To follow along, partner, or evaluate it, reach out through the contact details above.
